Spitfire H.F.ixe / TR9 SM520 G-ILDA streaking across the hills above Loch Voil in August 2021. This is a commissioned painting of the superbly maintained two seat Spitfire operated by www.spitfires.com.

On this mid morning flight the aircraft was operating from Cumbernauld with a route to the NW running along the picturesque slopes to the south of Loch Voil below the early forming summer cumulus.

I’ve flown in this aircraft, captained by the very capable John Dodd, and loved it - nothing quite like gentle aerobatics in such a classic.
