"Binary system, ringed worlds" - astronomical art by Simon Cattlin
This complex star system has two suns orbiting around a common barycentre, a orange K type star and a bright G type star partially feeding off the former.
Until quite recently it was thought that binary systems were unlikely to have planets, newly discovered exoplanet planets in a binary system discount that and binary systems are very common in the galaxy. The current view is that binary systems could be entirely consistent with the evolution of complex life and, maybe, advanced alien civilisations marvel at us evolving around a single unstable G type sun.
In this system the strong tidal gravity forces create a disruptive planetary environment. A ringed gas giant is orbited by a large clouded moon with its own rings caused by a smaller moon being torn apart after a bombardment by debris from the irregular astroid fields within this system. A third large, and possibly habitable, world also orbits the close in gas giant.
