"Hurry home honey" - aviation art by Simon Cattlin
The great air battles of 1944 created many combat legends and the Mustangs from the 357th Fighter Group featured in a number of them. Robert "Bud" Anderson's P51D "hurry home honey" is featured in this painting escorting a damaged B17G back towards the coast after a daylight raid into western Germany.
The P51D was the most familar variant of this campaign winning fighter that was hugely instrumental in securing the air-superiority that allowed allied aerial domination during 1944/45.
This painting was completed in 1988 and no prints were created from it. Its been in my private collection for 18yrs and is now for sale.
