“Lightning in moonlight” - aviation art by Simon Cattlin

The English Electric Lightning F1A was the first production version of this iconic British interceptor, it entered service in December 1959 and, over the next 10yrs, set the bar for mach 2 fighter performance with an eye-watering rate of climb, supersonic speed and manoeuvrability. The Lightning went through a number of major upgrades and new versions through a long front line career. Its ultimate altitude ceiling limit is still classified.

This painting was commissioned in 1988 and I’m re-marketing on behalf of the owner.
