Two RAF Eurofighter Typhoon T1's cruise east from RAF Leuchars on a training mission. The QRA ( Quick Reaction Alert ) forces at Leuchars are at the sharp end of the UK's air defence capability and the 6 Squadron Typhoon's represent the cutting edge against inbound threats to UK airspace.

6 Squadron is one of the oldest frontline squadrons in the RAF having initially formed in January 1913 as part of the Royal Flying Corp. After a distinguished continuous operational history 6 Squadron disbanded in 2007 after the withdrawal of the Jaguar fleet but reformed in 2010 to become a Typhoon unit. 6 Squadron became fully operational in the QRA role in March 2011.
