"The big view" - astronomical art by Simon Cattlin
As an artist, finding a platform to observe from is a key source of inspiration. I can't image a better plaform that this to view the blue planet below. The painting is of the tethered space walk undertaken by Edward H White II on June 3rd 1965 from Gemini 4, this was the 1st EVA by an American astronaut.
Colonel White was killed in January 1970, alongside Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee when fire swept through the Apollo 1 capsule at Cape Canaveral.
The Big view was selected for a GAVA exhibition during the early 1990's and had been part of my private collection prior to sale.
SOLD.
The original image file is low quality - the painting is sharp and detailed.
