A red dwarf sun sets on an ocean moon in a binary system. The moon’s home planet is eclipsed by the nearby star, this system’s gravitational fields are strong, frequent storms and strong winds generate massive tidal systems and mountainous waves.

Ocean worlds in red dwarf systems were thought to be a remote possibility but recent analysis suggests that planets and moons supporting active water oceans might be far more likely. Most of these are likely to hidden under thick ice sheets but many others, within the goldilocks zone, might have huge surface oceans.

In generations to come, initially remotely then with automated probes and finally with manned missions, we can dream of surveying these rich environments.
